Thomas Edison was a brilliant man. He had over 1,000 patents, that's a lot of inventing. The light bulb was one of Edison's great inventions. He went through many light bulbs until he made the light bulb. The light bulb was officially patented on January 27, 1880. It changed a lot of the common people, it gave them light on the streets, so people could be out at night, it gave them lights in there house with out dim lit candles. We still use it today so it's a revolutionary invention, except we are improving on his original version.
